Attorney James L. Plosia, Jr and Paralegal Conor Patrick review employment policies that must be addressed in 2024 manuals

State and federal laws government employment are constantly changing. As a result, a handbook from just a few years ago will invariably become outdated, obsolete and potentially legally problematic.

Too many companies take a one-size-fits all approach to employment manuals which does not accurately reflect the terms and conditions of employment or the reality of the workplace.

We will discuss important employment policies that MUST be included in 2024 manuals, changes to the law and other considerations that are necessary to have an effective employment handbooks that does more than just “check the boxes”.

About the Presenters: James L. Plosia, Jr. is a partner at the firm Plosia Cohen LLC. Mr. Plosia is a graduate of Rutgers University and an honors graduate of Rutgers Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review and served as its Notes and Comments editor. Mr. Plosia has written extensively on both labor and employment and education law issues and speaks frequently on both topics. He has also served as an instructor in Fairleigh Dickinson University’s MPA program. Mr. Plosia has provided defense representation to public entities since his graduation from law school since 1988, in such areas as discrimination law, CEPA claims, Section 1983 claims, etc.

Conor Patrick is the Office Manager and Paralegal at the firm Plosia Cohen LLC. Mr. Patrick is a graduate of Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont, where he studied Documentary Filmmaking. Mr. Patrick worked as a journalist covering events throughout the United States as a correspondent and writer. Since joining Plosia Cohen LLC, he has worked diligently with the firm to provide legal services to a broad array of private and public sector clients.
